Garage Door Opener Installation
Has your garage door opener gone bad? If so you are probably checking out this article to find out how to replace your old garage door opener with brand new one. Well we have good news for you because garage door opener installation is super easy!
Make sure that before you actually install a new garage door opener that you select and buy a grage door opener motor that is equal or greater horse power than the old broken one. Also make sure that the garage door opener you buy is similar in size and weight to the old garage door opener you have. This will ensure that your installation will go fast and smoothly.
The picture below is an actual picture of a garage door opener setup. While your setup may differ, this is the most standard way that garage door openers are installed here in the United States.
REMOVING
1. When removing your old garage door opener simply unplug the garage door opener from the ceiling power outlet.
2. Once the opener is unplugged, unscrew the garage door opener from the steel frame which holds it up in the air. NOTE: Garage door opener motors are heavy! Make sure you have someone there to assist you in holding the garage door opener once the frame fasteners have been loosened.
INSTALLING
1. First, refer to item 2 on the picture. Fasten the new garage door opener to the steel frame holders.
2. Refer to item 1 on the picture. Once the new garage door opener is in place, simple drape the chain around the sprocket and plug in the new garage door opener to the ceiling wall outlet.
BEFORE YOU TURN IT ON
Now for the moment you have been waiting for! Before turning the garage door opener on, make sure you have connected the garage button remote cables to the opener. The most IMPORTANT thing to worry about before turning on the garage door is to make sure the chain has been tightened. Garage door opener installation can result in a loose chain, which if not tightened, can ruin your new garage door opener in a matter of weeks.
Tighten the chain by simply tighting the spring on the end near the actual garage door. Once the spring has been tightened and there is adaquate slack, you are good to go!
