Repairing Garage Door Sensors
Garage door repair can also consist of replacing your garage door sensors. Garage door sensors sit at the bottom of your door tracks near the floor and shine beam to each other. When this beam is broken by having an object pass through it, the garage door sensors send a signal to the opener to stop and reverse what it was doing. These garage door sensors are extremely important as they protect your small children and pets. If the beam is broken by an object when the door is open, the sensors will not allow the garage door to close.
Garage door sensors usually get damaged by sideswiping them with your car tire, pets chewing on them, and they just get old and break. How easy is it to repair them? The answer is extremely easy! The nice thing about garage door sensors is that the cables that run down from you garage door opener to the sensors can be re-used with any pair of sensors. Where can you buy new garage door sensors? The answer is any warehouse store such as The Home Depot, Ace Hardware, or Lowes store within your areas. If you want to replace your sensors with the same brand as the garage door opener, simply go to the manufacturer website of your garage door opener and you should be able to easily order replacement sensors.
When installing the ne sensors, anchor both sensors to the track. There is a light on the sensors that will light up a constant “green” when the beams are aligned. If the beams are not aligned, the light will turn “red” or “orange”. After securing both sensors, move one around until you get the “green” light and then tighten it down on the track to secure it’s placement. Its that easy!
