Liftmaster is one of the most common and popular garage door brands and when you need a Liftmaster garage door repair there are a few things you should consider. The most common problems to check for when something goes wrong with your garage door is installation, the opener mechanism, the remote control, and radio receiver.

If the garage door has not been installed properly you will know right away. If the door tends to jump rather glide in a fluid motion it could mean the door is pushing at the wrong angle. If you pull the red emergency cord and release the door manually you can check to see if the door is in correct balance. If a spring is weak it could make the opener do too much work and carry most of the weight of the door.

If your garage door is not shutting completely and leaves a gap check your cords and their travel limit as well as the wear and tear on the gears. If the gears are worn out they can cause your garage door to stop moving just before it is supposed to touch the ground. If your garage door is opening and closing by itself it could mean a remote control button is stuck so check all of your remotes and make sure they are all in working order.

If your motor is humming on your garage door you will most definitely need a Liftmaster garage door repair. A motor should be quiet and any change in the noise it is projecting is a sure sign of trouble. If the motor bearings are worn out remove the motor and try to remove the shaft if it does not turn easily you will need to replace the motor. If a bolt comes loose and becomes jammed in the trolley that can cause noise and also irreversible damage.

If your motor is running but the door does not move it can mean that your door has come off the track or that the pulleys have disconnected. Check all the components for any loose parts or broken cords. A big problem is if your door is straining to open and it needs the maximum force to open or close the door is probably off balance or a spring is broken. Pull the emergency release to close the door, and then pull it open again. If they door is balanced it should be able to stand still if you stop it at any point during the motion. If the spring is broken replace the spring.
